Cyber Daily News - Twelve people smugglers gang members, which most victims are people of
Syria and Afghanistan, has been arrested while subject to an
international arrest warrant against five others, Austrian police said
on Thursday.
The conspirators had smuggled approximately 1,800 people from the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, through Hungary towards Austria between February and September.
Most victims are men, women and children who came from Syria and Afghanistan, said Franz Prucher, head of police in the province of Lower Austria, told a news conference.
"This is arguably one of our success," says Prucher adding that all the suspects were arrested nationals of Serbia, most have a long stay in Austria.

Ten men and a woman were arrested in Austria and another man were arrested in Greece, authorities said.In August, the discovery of 71 bodies of refugees in the truck abandoned on the highway Austria surprise and caused anger over the act of the gang of smugglers, who exploit the refugees in order to make profits by smuggling to Western countries in Europe.
For months, Hungary became a major transit point for newly arrived migrants, nearly 400,000 people who crossed into the country in this year.
According to police, the gang has been operating since February and police have seized six vehicles and money of 50,000 euro.
