Cyber Daily News - Belgian authorities increase checks on the border region, especially
in France, after the acts of terror that killed at least 120 people in
Paris, France, on Friday (Saturday GMT).
"Examination of reinforced border has been set up at the border as a result of these actions, especially with the close cooperation with the French authorities," the statement Belgian National Threat Evaluation Center (OCAM).
Belgian security forces also urged increased vigilance for the big event in Belgium over the weekend, but announced that it is not necessary to raise the alert status.
OCAM says no need to raise the terror alert status of the country, and considers that events in Paris does not seem to have "direct effect" in Belgium.
However, OCAM still confirms the need for increased vigilance for large events, and the Belgian authorities following the situation closely.
"As a precaution, it is expected that there is a high awareness of the police service to all the major events planned for the weekend in Belgium as well as for a football match next Tuesday," noted OCAM.
Additionally, OCAM announced, "People who attend the event are asked not to bring large suitcases or bags to simplify the process of improving the examination will be done."

Interviewed by the French-language public radio RTBF, Michel said earlier that he was "disgusted by this tragedy".
A crisis center of the Ministry of Interior Belgian activated Friday night and Belgian security council will meet on Saturday, said Michel.
"We must strengthen our efforts against terrorism," said 39-year-old politician.
The people of Belgium also have experienced extremist attacks, including the killing of four people at a Jewish museum in the center of Brussels in 2014 by a gunman.
In January, security forces killed two suspected terrorists in Verviers, Belgium east, which they claim were planning attacks against the police immediately.
